Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans
‘Idol’ Finish Line: David Cook nabbed this year’s title of “American Idol,” along with a new hybrid car, and the opportunity to recreate Tom Cruise’s iconic underwear dance from “Risky Business,” in a commercial for the video game “Guitar Hero,” not to mention a million dollar recording contract. In case you didn’t catch the finale, Access all the “Idol” finale moments HERE! Plus, find out why Cook thought he would come in second place.
The Other David: Many “Idol” runner-ups have gone on to illustrious careers, and we expect nothing less from this year’s second vote getter, David Archuleta. See what Utah’s Golden Boy told Access’ Shaun Robinson about the guy who beat him to the finish line HERE.
Bo Bice Reveals Baby Name: Speaking of runner-ups, Bo Bice, who was beat by former “Idol” hopeful-turned-winner-turned-country megastar Carrie Underwood, told People he and his wife have decided to name their first son Caleb, who is due in August. No word if they were ever considering naming the baby Sanjaya or Simon.
Doolittle — Dolots!: “Idol” alum Melina Doolittle (remember her from Season 6?) gave Access all the dish on her new album dropping this summer. “I get to do some retro soul and add a little bit of grit in it,” she said. We do love grit in our soul! And that’s not the only Doolittle you’ll get this year. Melinda said she’ll be bringing that “grit” to a holiday album too!
Brit’s New Sound: And what ‘Idol” wrap up would be complete without America’s favorite pop idol, Britney Spears. Producer J.R. Rotem told People when it comes to her new album that they’re working on, “She just has the ‘it’ factor that not every artist has.” A Spears family source told the mag, “She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses ‘just singing.’” Sounds like Brit might be taking a cue from “Idol” songstress Brooke White.
