Rosario Dawson & Theo Rossi Join ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’

Rosario Dawson is joining the cast of “Marvel’s Luke Cage.”

The actress will bring her character from “Marvel’s Daredevil” – nurse Claire Temple – to the third series in the franchise on Netflix.

According to Marvel, which announced a slate of casting news on Wednesday, Claire’s “blossoming friendship” with Luke (played by “The Good Wife’s” Mike Colter) will “have a major impact on both characters’ lives.”

“We are thrilled to have Rosario in another one of our television series,” Marvel’s Head of TV and “Luke Cage” Executive Producer Jeph Loeb said in a statement posted on Marvel’s website. “Her performance as Claire Temple in ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ was astonishing and we can’t wait to see her shine in ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage.'”

Also joining the cast is “Sons of Anarchy” alum Theo Rossi, who will play “ruthless criminal” Shades. His character is connected to Luke.

“Theo Rossi is a Swiss army knife — no matter what you bring to him, he has a tool for it — and he’s playfully unpredictable,” Executive Producer/sowrunner Cheo Hodari Coker said of his new cast member. “His Shades will be someone you hate to love.”

“Ray Donovan” alum Frank Whaley will play NYPD detective Rafael Scarfe. He will be teamed up with Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick, on the Luke Cage case.

“Simone blew us away with her performance as the strong-willed cop on a mission,” Loeb said in a statement.

“Marvel’s Luke Cage” will drop on Netflix in 2016. First up though is “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” which will introduce the Luke Cage character, when the season debuts November 20 on the streaming platform.
