Teri Hatcher is still feeling “Desperate” – and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
The “Desperate Housewives” beauty hit up her Facebook page on Monday to set the record straight over rumors she was quitting the hit ABC show.
“There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is.,” Teri wrote of a report first published by the UK’s Daily Mail on Sunday, which falsely claimed Teri had “given in her notice” to leave the show.
“’Newspapers’ should be accountable for this kind of irresponsible journalism and reckless fabrication of a story. What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would ‘quit’ what has been …one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis,” her Facebook post continued. “I have never said nor inferred otherwise.”
Teri, who plays Susan Mayer on the Wisteria Lane-set drama, not only took issue with the publication’s erroneous story, but also said she is awaiting an apology from the paper.
“They made no effort to contact me or my representatives or the network to fact check. I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least for mucking up everyone’s Sunday with this huge, hurtful lie,” she added. “I will say it again, I love [‘Desperate Housewives’], the cast and crew are like family and I am with it till its cancelled.”
The Daily Mail also claimed that co-star Felicity Huffman would be “following Hatcher out of the show.”
However, Teri said the injection of new blood this season – with series creator Marc Cherry bringing Vanessa Williams on board – has made life on the set as great as ever.
“Vanessa Williams and the writers have brought a new energy to the show this year and I expect and hope it can continue on for a long time. I meet many people who still find so much joy in watching it and I want everyone to know I’m joyful to be involved to this day and that’s not going to change,” she concluded.
When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for ABC said there was no truth to the rumors of Teri or Felicity’s exits.
A spokesperson for The Daily Mail said the publication “stands by the story.”
