Will Smith To Tour With DJ Jazzy Jeff: ‘I Really Want To Get Out There & Do It For Real’

Will Smith is ready to get jiggy with his music career
again, and DJ Jazzy Jeff is coming along for the ride!

The “Suicide Squad” star confirmed on Thursday’s
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that he’s launching a reunion tour with
his longtime collaborator.

Ellen accompanied the announcement with a throwback photo of
the duo in their early days, a blast from the past which may have caught Will a
bit off guard.

“Okay, maybe I won’t, maybe I won’t,” he joked,
after catching a glimpse at him and Jeff in all their ’80s glory.

The 47-year-old and his partner burst on the rap scene in
1986 with their debut single “Girls Ain’t Nothing But Trouble,” and
picked up a Grammy two years later for the track “Parents Just Don’t
Understand.”

When Will found TV stardom in 1990 with the now-classic
sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” however, his career began to
take a different trajectory.

“We never actually had a chance to go out and do a full
tour,” Will said, explaining that his success on the show made it
difficult for him and Jeff to maintain their momentum.

Now, he says, “I really want to get out there and do it
for real.”

When asked if they’re planning to focus on their greatest
hits or debut any new material, Will smiled and told the host that fans can
expect a little bit of both.

“I keep a stash, Ellen. I keep a stash,” he said
of the potential set list, adding, “I got a couple new things.”

Will and Jeff’s tour announcement may be new, but the
“Concussion” star is already prepping his return to the musical
spotlight with the help of other artists, too.

In September, Will was featured on a remix of Bomba Estero’s
“Fiesta,” and is set to hit the stage with the Colombian group at the
Latin Grammy Awards on Nov. 19.
