Cassie’s Lawyer Slams Diddy Apology As ‘Pathetic Desperation’ After Assault Video
Cassie Ventura’s legal team his responded to Diddy’s apology. In the wake of disturbing surveillance footage that appeared to show the hip-hop mogul physically assaulting then-girlfriend Ventura in 2016, Sean “Diddy” Combs issued a video statement on May 19 in which he said he took “full responsibility” for his “inexcusable” behavior at the time. A lawyer for Ventura, however, said in a statement obtained by multiple outlets the following day that they found his message lacking. “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt,” Meredith Firetog, Partner at Wigdor LLP, said in part, additionally claiming, “When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.” Ventura filed and settled an explosive lawsuit against Diddy in 2023 claiming years of abuse that allegedly occurred throughout their on-and-off relationship. The newly-resurfaced video, first obtained by CNN, appears to show Diddy shoving, kicking and dragging Ventura in a hotel hallway.
