The fall campaign plays on Sweeney’s “great genes” before replacing the word “genes” to “jeans.” In one widely circulated commercial, the “Anyone But You” actress says, as she zips up her pants, that “genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color.” She then looks at the camera and says, “My jeans are blue.” As the ad sparked a lot of discourse online, Doja mocked the video in a July 28 TikTok that got over 2 million likes in less than 24 hours.
