Emily Blunt Says Dwayne Johnson’s Transformation In ‘The Smashing Machine’ Was ‘Profound’

Emily Blunt was stunned by Dwayne Johnson’s transformation in “The Smashing Machine.” The actor told Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans he gained about 30 pounds to portray Mark Kerr in the upcoming film about the mixed-martial arts and UFC champion, but Emily wasn’t just impressed by his physical transformation. “It was just the most profound thing to see this person who I love and respect and know so well just disappear and it wasn’t just the physical thing, it was a complete demeanor shift, it was like the walk, the voice,” she said. The two also revealed how their close friendship helped them film emotionally taxing scenes. Emily also has another major film in the works, “The Devil Wears Prada” sequel and she revealed what her husband John Krasinski would need to do to get a cameo in the film. “The Smashing Machine” hit theaters nationwide Oct. 3.
