The actor is starring as King Louis XV in the French-language film “Jeanne du Barry,” which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month. It marks his first onscreen role since his and ex-wife Amber Heard’s defamation trial. A source close to Depp tells People that since the trial, Depp has been living in Europe and “focused on work.” The insider added of his experience making “Jeanne du Barry,” “Filming was challenging, but Johnny is excited about the comeback. He thinks it’s perfect that this historical drama will open at Cannes.”
