Kid Cudi Breaks Silence On Bombshell Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Trial Testimony: ‘Hated Every Minute’
Kid Cudi is breaking his silence on testifying in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex-trafficking trial. The rapper joined Alex Cooper on the Aug. 13 episode of “Call Her Daddy” and reflected on how reluctant he was to take the stand. “I was there because I had to be like. First they asked, I said, ‘No,’ then again, I said, ‘No.’ Then I got subpoena, and I was like, “F***, s***. No.” Cudi went on to note that he decided to show up to court in jeans and a motorcyle jacket in protest of “dressing up” and “hated every minute” of the experience, but ultimately realized he wanted to do his part to be there for former flame Cassie Ventura, who delivered her own bombshell three-day testimony in the case and claimed that combs had manipulated her into a years-long cycle of abuse. “Like, I’ve always just wanted to see her, you know, thrive and, and do well and be happy, you know, because I know she was living a nightmare and I just was there to support her. That’s what kind of gave me peace with it when I sat down in that chair, it was just about, ‘Oh man, I gotta like, hold homegirl down’ and like, you know, look out for her, you know.” Cassie dated Cudi in 2011 while she was on-and-off with Combs, and Cudi testified that he believes Combs allegedly broke into his home and torched his car upon finding out about the “Day ‘n’ Nite” artist’s relationship with Cassie, which Cudi said ended shortly afterward. Combs has denied any involvement in the incident and Cudi shared on “Call Her Daddy” that he’s since made peace with that time in his life but noted how surreal it felt back then. “Yeah, it was crazy, man. Like, you know, man, in the moment, it was just crazy. Like, I had a hard time understanding if it was reality. Like, I was like, ‘Am I in a movie? What the f*** is going on?'” he said, adding that he’s revisiting all that and more in his upcoming memoir. Cudi’s new album “Free” drops Aug. 22.
