Luigi Mangione Arrives In Suit For Significant Court Hearing In UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting Case

Luigi Mangione, the man accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024, arrived in court Monday, Dec. 1, for a significant hearing regarding evidence in his state trial. Mangione’s lawyers are seeking to have certain evidence thrown out, including a journal, as they allege that police did not immediately read the University of Pennsylvania graduate’s Miranda rights and searched his backpack without a proper warrant. Prosecutors deny the defense’s claims. A photo published from inside the Manhattan Criminal Court shows the 27-year-old smiling at one of his attorneys. For his latest court appearance, Mangione wore a suit that featured a gray jacket and plaid shirt underneath. The hearings are expected to last several days. Mangione faces both state and federal charges. However, the 27-year-old scored a legal win in September, as a New York state judge dismissed the terrorism-related murder charge against him, citing insufficient evidence. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
