Luke Bryan Defends Katy Perry Against ‘American Idol’ Backlash: ‘We’re Doing The Best We Can’
Luke Bryan is standing by Katy Perry as she’s faced some backlash from “American Idol” viewers. The country crooner defended his fellow judge amid flak she’s gotten from fans over various comments she made during Season 21. During the auditions, one contestant accused her of mom-shaming after the pop star joked that the mom of three had been, quote, “laying on the table too much.” Katy was also booed during the season when she told a contestant to wear less glitter onstage. When asked about the criticism, Luke told Fox News in a new interview, “Katy Perry’s been dealing with stuff like that her whole career. We all get it. … I mean, we’re judging kids that people at home fall in love with, so we’re not gonna bat 1,000 as judges.”
