Rihanna, Beyoncé, & More Join Jay-Z to Close Out Yankee Stadium Residency
Jay-Z brought out the star power for his final concert at Yankee Stadium featuring surprise performances by Rihanna, wife Beyoncé, and more. On Sunday, July 12, after an hours-long show delay, the rapper finally took the stage and explained that the pushback was due to fans rushing the gates, noting there was 10,000 people outside. “I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to make sure everybody’s okay,” he told the crowd. During his nearly three hour-long set, which concluded around 3 a.m., the Grammy winning artist surprised fans by bringing out many famous faces onstage, including Rihanna who performed “Run This Town” and “B*tch Better Have My Money.” Plus, Beyoncé took the stage for her and Jay’s 2013 hit “Drunk In Love” while Usher, Pharrell Williams, Teyana Taylor, Swizz Beatz, Jadakiss, and Fat Joe also made appearances during the “Extra Innings” show. Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium residency celebrated 30 years of his debut studio album “Reasonable Doubt” as well as 25 years of “The Blueprint” and kicked off Friday, July 10, for a three night takeover. Beyoncé had also joined him during opening night, as did the couple’s eldest child, Blue Ivy Carter.
