Rob Reiner & Michele Reiner’s Kids Jake & Romy Break Silence On Parents’ ‘Horrific’ Murders
Rob and Michele Reiner’s daughter and older son are speaking out on the couple’s shocking deaths. Jake and Romy Reiner broke their silence on the tragedy in a statement on Dec. 17, three days after their parents died at their Los Angeles home in an apparent homicide. “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave,” the message read. Jake and Romy’s remarks come shortly after their brother, Nick Reiner, made his first court appearance amid the ongoing investigation. Nick is facing two counts of first-degree murder in Rob and Michele’s deaths and was arrested around six hours after their bodies were found. He has yet to enter a plea and his arraignment was continued to Jan. 7, 2026. Sources close to the Reiner family have told multiple outlets including People and The New York Times that Romy was first on the scene when a massage therapist had been unable to reach Rob and Michele for a scheduled appointment at their home. The couple met on the set of the iconic director’s 1989 classic “When Harry Met Sally.” Nick’s struggles with addiction were well documented, including in the semi-autobiographical 2016 film “Being Charlie,” which Nick co-wrote and Rob directed. While promoting the movie, the father-son duo spoke with Access Hollywood in a now-chilling interview about working together on the project following Nick’s multiple stints in rehab.
