Shakira Says Writing Hit Breakup Song Helped Her Amid ‘Rough Year’ After Gerard Piqué Split
Shakira is grateful to have a creative outlet. The music superstar joined “The Tonight Show” this week alongside collaborator Bizarrap and told host Jimmy Fallon how writing their hit breakup track helped “channel [her] emotions” after splitting from longtime partner Gerard Piqué. “I’ve had a very rough year after my separation,” she said, adding that she feels she now has a “sisterhood” with other women who can relate to the track’s deeply personal lyrics.
