‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Airs Final Show With The Help Of Paul McCartney & Ryan Reynolds
It’s the end of a late-night TV era! “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” aired its series finale on May 21 ending the comedians impressive 11-year-run on CBS. Before the final show officially kicked off, theyshared a goodbye video on social media made up of a compilation of clips from fellow late-night hosts throughout the years, including Chelsea Handler, Conan O’Brian, Trevor Noah and more. The finale started with a cold open of the 62-year-old telling the audience how much joy the show brought over the years. Stephen Colbert was greeted with a standing ovation from the crowd as he walked on stage for the final time, before delivering his monologue which included a series of impressive celebrity cameos including Bryan Cranston, Ryan Reynolds, and Paul Rudd, all vying to be his final guest. Colbert even fed into online speculation that Pope Leo would be his final guest, by introducing the pontiff before being interrupted by a music legend Paul McCartney who was his final guest. The series final wasn’t complete without another appearance of the “strike force five” aka Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, and Jimmy Fallon. They gave their own take on the vortex, with Kimmel alluding to the time when his show was pulled from the air by Disney and ABC for a few days. The show ended up going over, closing out with a performance of “Hello, Goodbye” by Paul McCartney, John Baptiste and his entire staff.
