Why Anna Sawai Felt Sad In SAG Awards Acceptance Speech
Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall spoke to “Shōgun” star Anna Sawai at the 2025 TIME Women of the Year gala where she reflected on her emotional SAG Awards speech after winning Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. Anna explained, “I just felt like it was such a long journey and to have celebrated it that way with them and it would be the last time to be there as a team, I felt sad and to know that they were going to move on as a team without me.” The actress also shared what advice she’d give her younger self, “It will be ok, just trust yourself. I felt like I knew it but a lot of people around me weren’t giving me that confidence so I would want to tell her that she’s ok.”
