Why Vanessa Hudgens Had To Cancel Dinner Plans With ‘Masked Singer’ Judge Rita Ora While Filming

The goldfish on “The Masked Singer” has been revealed, and it is none other than Vanessa Hudgens! The “High School Musical” star was crowned champion for Season 11 of the hit show, “The Masked Singer” on May 22. Speaking with Access Hollywood, Vanessa shared a bit about how she chose her costume, revealing, “I mean, I definitely was presented the idea, but I was like ‘Goldfish going for the gold,’ like I’m here for it. Kind of sold itself!” Those elaborate costumes, she shared, had “a lot of layers” and she soon realized she was going to need flat shoes. “It was constantly evolving. I started off with what I thought were like a sensible booted heel, which turned very quickly into a ballet flat because my sighted vision wasn’t the best and once you lose that, you kind of lose your equilibrium as well.” Vanessa, who told Access she loves performing on stage, explained that she took some inspiration from Miley Cyrus. “Coincidentally, both of the songs I sang in the finale were covered by Miley Cyrus, who’s another phenomenal vocalist. So I was like, you know what, we’re just going to walk in Miley’s shoes. I love it. I’m here for it – supporting the fam!” The 35-year-old revealed that she kept tight-lipped about being on the show and only told her mother, sister, and husband, Cole Tucker, about the gig. One of the challenges however, the “Spring Breakers” star revealed, was that she’s good friends with judge Rita Ora and had to cancel dinner plans on her while filming. “I sang my first song and she guessed me, and I was like, ‘Well, there goes our dinner plans,’ because I can’t sit across from her and lie if she asks,” Vanessa said, adding, “We’re too real to beat around the bush, you know, so I guess our dinner’s going to have to wait for once the show has come to a wrap.” Plus, Vanessa also spoke about some of her exciting projects including, “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die.” “It’s the best. Honestly, they’re like such a unique duo to be able to work with and they’re exactly what you expect — like, they really are brothers and they really lean on each other and their banter and their timing together is just so unique and so special,” she told Access, adding, “It’s just really a joy to be a part of the franchise.”
