Ben Affleck Says Matt Damon ‘Is Doing Great’ With New Baby

Ben Affleck might be in Denver at the Democratic National Convention supporting Barack Obama, but the actor is keeping in close contact with pal and new father Matt Damon.

“I’ve kind of been texting him back and forth, and he’s doing great and [wife] Lucy is doing great,” Ben told People on Wednesday at the DNC.

As for Matt being the lone guy in an all-female house, the “Bourne” star is simply happy to be a new father, according to Ben.

“Anybody who has a child is excited, I think, no matter what the gender is. They are thrilled,” Ben said. “The thing that people really want, when you get down to it, is a healthy child.”

While in Denver with wife Jennifer Garner, Ben is lending his star power to variety of charitable causes, including the America’s Second Harvest Send Hunger Packing and a celebrity poker match with Sarah Silverman, which will benefit paralyzed veterans.
