Brandy may have leapt to the top of the “Dancing with the Stars” leaderboard last week, out seating Jennifer Grey thanks to an electric quickstep, but she’s making headlines for an entirely different reason – her recent admission she hasn’t had sex in six years.
“Everybody’s pretty much been talking about it,” Brandy laughed, when Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson asked her about the reaction to her news over the weekend at the Carousel of Hope Gala in Beverly Hills. “I haven’t been in a serious relationship and been in love in six years.”
Brandy said she’s not in a hurry to get busy when she isn’t in love.
“I tend to abstain when I’m not in a relationship, so it’s been a little while for me,” she smiled.
The singer, who will dance the tango with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Monday night’s “DWTS” competition show, said that the song she’ll be performing to is thematically close to how she is feeling right now.
“I’m really waiting for that special someone. And it’s funny, our song this week is I’m ‘Holding Out For A Hero,’ and that is exactly what I’m doing,” Brandy said. “I’m like, ‘Oh my God! This speaks to my life!”
While her love life may be moving in slow motion, Brandy is full steam ahead on “Dancing,” and unlike some of her fellow competitors, she has no problem saying she wants that mirrorball trophy at the end of the season.
“I really want this, I don’t think anybody in this competition wants this as bad as me,” Brandy said of her hopes for winning “DWTS.” “I really, I’ve shed tears for this, honey.”
