Bret Michaels Addresses Love Life: ‘Not Engaged Yet’

Bret Michaels and Kristi Lynn Gibson aren’t ready to walk down the aisle just yet.

The rocker-turned-reality star and Kristi, his on-again, off-again girlfriend and the mother his two daughters, aren’t engaged, despite reports this week that Bret had popped the question.

“No, we are not engaged yet, it’s a work in progress,” he said on CBS’ “Early Show” on Wednesday. “She has a beautiful promise ring — it’s a promise ring, or a friendship ring, with benefits. That’s what we call it. But yes, is it a work in progress? Absolutely.”

While marriage may not be on the way, Bret said the couple has a “great relationship.”

“She’s a beautiful woman,” he said. “She’s strong, I love her, we respect each other and I think that’s the start of a great relationship.”

The pair has been linked for 16 years (and despite three seasons of Bret’s dating reality show, “Rock of Love”).

In May, after surviving a brain hemorrhage, Bret told People that he was considering finally getting hitched.

“Kristi’s such a great person,” he said at the time. “We’ll see if that happens. My first goal is to get back [to] 100 percent. I want to continue to rock the world, and I want to continue to love my family and be a good father.”
