Eric Roberts On His Reconciliation With Sister, Julia

Eric Roberts bested his sister, Julia Roberts, at the box office last weekend as “The Expendables” took the crown over “Eat Pray Love,” but the actor doesn’t like it when the media points out those details.

“I hate that,” he told The Daily Beast. “Sly[vester Stallone] said, ‘How is it to be up against your sister?’ But she’s in a chick flick. I’m in a big action movie. She’s a woman, I’m a man. We don’t compete for roles. We can’t be in competition.”

In a 2001 article, Britain’s The Independent newspaper reported that the Roberts’ hadn’t spoken in a decade, but Eric denied to The Daily Beast that the two siblings ever had a feud.

“There was never really a feud. We’re brother and sister and we both have really strong opinions about things, so it’s a lot of ‘f*** you,’ ‘no, f*** you’ and hanging up the phone,” he said. “But it got so blown out of proportion. We stopped talking and then with the birth of the twins we started talking again.”

Eric told The Daily Beast that he and Julia are much closer these days.

“Now we talk almost every day. I like her,” he said.

The actor, and father of young actress Emma Roberts, also opened up about filming “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” which is expected to screen on VH1 later this year. The actor said his reps were shocked when he decided to join the program, to overcome a problem with marijuana.

“I said, ‘It’s going to be fun, don’t worry.’ They said ‘Janice Dickinson is on it,’ don’t go near that. I was, like, ‘It’s really OK,’” he said.
