Gabrielle Carteris Lied About Being 29 When Cast In ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’

Gabrielle Carteris was worried about being too old to play a high school student when she was first cast in “Beverly Hills, 90210” – so she lied about her age!

“They didn’t know, I lied,” the actress told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Monday’s Access Hollywood Live about playing the 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman when she was 29.

“I actually talked to a lawyer about how could I sign these contracts and lie about my age and still be able to do the show. ‘Is it OK?’ And, ‘Yes it is, as long as you just say you’re over 21,’” the actress, who is currently guest starring on NBC’s “The Event,” explained.

“Then a magazine – that I won’t say – did an interview on the show with somebody else and they went and asked my agent [my age,] I said, ‘I don’t talk about my age,’ or whatever, they found it in the DMV, illegally,” the now-50-year-old actress told Billy and Kit. “So, then they were printing it and I thought, ‘This is it! I’m gonna lose the job, there’s no way.’ By that time, the show had been on long enough, so it was OK.”

The actress said she doesn’t miss her days at the Peach Pit, but does miss her fellow stars from the famous zip code.

“I don’t think I miss it. I miss the people, but I see them, Jason [Priestly] and I are really close,” she said. “And I think all the good stuff, I did that stuff and now I’m moving on now. I mean, the people I loved on the show, so that’s great when I can be with them.”

And would Gabrielle ever follow in the footsteps of former co-stars Jennie Garth and Ian Ziering and compete on “Dancing with the Stars”?

“If they asked me, I’d try my best,” she told Billy and Kit. “Of course I would!”

Catch Gabrielle on NBC’s “The Event” tonight at 9 PM.
