Gina Rodriguez isn’t letting a brief case of mistaken
identity ruin her happy Golden Globes news.
The “Jane the Virgin” star – up for her second
consecutive Globe – was confused with America Ferrera during Thursday’s
nomination announcement, in a now-infamous Twitter gaffe for which the awards
show has since apologized.
Despite the social media uproar following the blunder, Gina
told Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez that she has a more lighthearted
perspective.

“It’s a flub, who cares?” the 31-year-old said.
“I think they’re making too much of an issue of it. … It’s not the end of
the world.”
In fact, Gina said she may even consider the error a
compliment of sorts.

“In all honesty, if there’s anybody I ever want to be
compared to or mixed up with, it’s America Ferrera,” she said of the
former “Ugly Betty” star. “She’s fantastic, she’s talented
beyond belief, and I feel like she’s a very strong Latina.”
Adding, “I hope she feels the same way, right?”
Gina said she understood why people reacted with such
fervor, but suggested that a bit of understanding could go a long way.
“I think it comes from a place of love,” she told
Access of the criticism. “And I think we can also come from a place of
love and say, ‘You know, people make mistakes.'”
