Glam Slam: Boxed In

The other day I was in my closet staring at my shoes looking for a particular pair to wear, when my husband came in and asked why I keep all my shoes in boxes. I gave him a puzzled look and asked, “Doesn’t everyone keep their shoes in the boxes?”

“No,” he said. “How many celeb homes have we shot over the years where you see the shoes displayed on open shelves?”

I thought about it for a second and he’s right.

We’ve all seen plenty of magazine spread on celebrity closets and the shoes are displayed like museum pieces. Some get artsy with how they display them, with one shoe facing forward and the other facing back. Of course, maybe that’s because many stars have dozens of pairs of high end, high heels that are worthy of being shown off like that!

Me, on the other hand, well, I own a lot of boring ballet flats! I’m not sure that would have quite the same effect! What about you? How do you store your shoes? In or out of the box?

True, shoe boxes take up more room, but the shoes get dusty when they are not in their boxes and that just adds up to more work for me! Then there’s that whole out-of-sight-out-of-mind problem. I’ll forget a about pair of shoes for years.

But when you rediscover them, it’s like getting a great pair of shoes…free!
