Taylor Momsen, the face of Madonna and her daughter Lourdes’ new line Material Girl, paid a visit to our set yesterday. The “Gossip Girl” star hosted a fashion show for the collection, which is available exclusively at Macy’s, on our new Access Hollywood Live show.
Taylor was much taller in person than I expected. Of course, that could have been due to her massive heels. But I guess she just looks so petite on TV that I expected her to be smaller.
She had super long platinum blonde extensions. Oh, and there was her signature dark eye liner, which had to be the blackest, darkest eye makeup I have ever seen at 7:30 in the morning. I wouldn’t have the guts to wear that bold of an eye, even if I was dressing up as a raccoon for Halloween!
As anyone who follows Taylor on Twitter knows, she loves to drop the F Bomb and that was no exception while she was on our set. But once the camera was on, Taylor was the consummate professional. No profanities – thank goodness – we are live after all!
Taylor told us she was shocked when she got the phone call that Madonna wanted her to be the face of the line. “It was insane. I didn’t believe it at first. It’s not everyday you get a call like ‘Hey, Madonna’s calling.’ Like what?”
As for 13-year-old Lourdes, Taylor says she is very professional, is very involved with the line and has a distinct fashion sense.
She showed us three looks from the affordable and accessible line, all aimed at the tween and teen generation. (Although tell that to my thirtysomething co-worker Sharon, who has bought several pieces from the Material Girl line!)
“The blazer is a classic fashion statement with a modern twist,” Taylor said of a neon yellow jacket. “It’s very rare for me to say I like color.”
Taylor told us a black lace top was one of her favorites from the collection, which was paired with a flirty skirt and fingerless leather black gloves.
“This is very Madonna. The gloves are so Madonna. It’s got a little bit of a throwback feel to it, but it’s still modern. I love.”
