Reese Witherspoon Teases ‘Secret’ Disney Project

Reese Witherspoon could be ready to spread her fairy wings.

The Oscar winner teased fans with a selfie from the Disney lot on Thursday, hinting that she’s teaming up with the studio for a “secret project.”

“Can’t wait to share it with y’all,” Reese captioned the Twitter photo, in which she’s giving a sly smile alongside her studio pass.

Speculation immediately pointed toward the star’s reported deal to headline a live-action Tinker Bell feature.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Reese signed on to produce and star in the “Peter Pan” spin-off in May, but other Disney-related possibilities have entered the rumor mill as well.

While Reese has been attached to Disney’s romantic comedy “Wish List” since 2011, some have expressed hope that she’s branching out into the superhero world instead.

“Captain Marvel I assume,” one fan wrote, inspiring others to include a #CaptainMarvel hashtag in their responses to Reese’s Tweet. The action flick is set for 2018 and will mark the first female-led tentpole film since Marvel Studios began operating as a Disney subsidiary earlier this year.

Disney might not need superpowers or fairy dust to make the movie work, whatever it may be. Reese has proven herself a reliable hitmaker whether she’s on or off-screen. Her production company, Pacific Standard, is responsible for commercial and critical favorites like 2014’s “Gone Girl” and “Wild.”

“Tink” could prove another safe bet, though, as Disney aims to continue its success with live-action remakes.

Angelina Jolie’s “Maleficent” grossed more than $750 billion worldwide in 2014, and March’s “Cinderella” was a surprise smash. Next up is 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast,” starring Emma Watson.
