RuPaul Reveals ‘Perfect Drag’

RuPaul and her army of queens are back for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, and the always charming star stopped by Access Hollywood Live to reveal what it takes for a queen to be crowned and reign supreme.

Here’s what Ru told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Monday’s show about what it takes to be last in the (often catty and cutthroat) world of drag:

On Achieving “Perfect Drag”: “It’s [requires] a sense of history, it’s a sense of humor, it’s a sense of pop culture… at its core, drag is about reminding our culture to not take life too seriously [and to] have fun!”

On How The Logo Series Has Succeeded: “The show is about tenacity of the human spirit, that’s why people love it, whether you do drag or not, everybody has a dream, everybody has an aspiration to be seen.”

On Why Young Queens Need To Know Their Her-story: “The kids today don’t want to pay their dues. They think that they are going to go straight to the head of the line… Everyone thinks, ‘Oh, I’ll go in a show and I’ll be famous forever.’ The biggest struggle is to stay challenged, even today, you have to stay engaged… You better work!”

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” airs Mondays at 9/8c.
