Sean Lowe: ‘Bachelorette’ Twist Is ‘Disgusting,’ ‘Downright Degrading’

Add former “Bachelor” Sean Lowe to long list of people upset by the reality show’s latest move – pitting two women against each other on the next season.

After it was announced that both Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson will be “Bachelorettes,” Sean took to his blog to rant.

“I normally don’t speak out against ‘The Bachelor.’ They’ve been so awesome to me – first allowing me to appear on ‘The Bachelorette,’ then selecting me for ‘The Bachelor’ Amazingly, I met my wife on that crazy show!” he wrote in a post titled “Three Reasons Why Having 2 Women on The Bachelorette Should Never Happen,” published on Tuesday.
Sean went on to reveal he and wife Catherine were watching the “Bachelor” finale together, and they found the twist “disgusting” (especially since the announcement was made one day after the United Nation’s National Women’s Day – a day meant to focus on “empowering women”).

“As we were sitting on the couch watching this trainwreck of an announcement, [Catherine] made a good point. One of these poor girls is going to suffer the same rejection she suffered the first go around,” he wrote, adding that since one of the girls will be sent home on the first night (without having had the chance to get to know the guys), the decision will be made almost entirely on looks.

He offered three reasons why “they should never have two women on “The Bachelor”: “It’s downright degrading for the women – for the two chosen and the women watching at home,” “Bringing on two Bachelorettes is just a rating ploy designed to bring ‘The Bachelorette’ out of a two season ratings slump,” and “There’s no way [producers] can stack the decks with good possibilities for such two different women.”

The former “Bachelor” added that the latest development in the ABC reality show “just doesn’t support that ‘finding true love part.'”
