Fans are getting their first glimpse of TV’s new “Supergirl”!
The first two images from the upcoming superhero pilot were released on Friday, showing Melissa Benoist for the first time in full costume as the title character.
That’s right – red boots, red skirt, red cape and that big red “S” emblazoned across her chest!

The costume was designed by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who has also designed costumes for “The Flash” and “Arrow.”
“In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today,” Atwood said in a statement released on Friday.
The one-hour drama pilot is produced by “Arrow” and “Flash’s” Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler and Sarah Schechter. Benoist’s casting was first announced in January.
As previously reported by AccessHollywood.com, the “Supergirl” cast also includes former “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” star Dean Cain, original big screen “Supergirl” Helen Slater, “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Chyler Leigh, “Homeland” alum David Harewood, “Nashville” star Laura Benanti and “True Blood” actor Mehcad Brooks.

The pilot, which earned a series commitment in September by CBS, will be written by Berlanti and Adler. Production on the pilot begins this week.
