‘The Voice’ Season 7 Preview: 6 Things To Look Out For

“The Voice” returns to NBC on Monday night, a refreshed show thanks to the welcome additions of Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams in the big red chairs.

The seasoned artists – the No Doubt frontwoman, designer and solo artist, and singer/producer Pharrell – liven up the game and keep Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on their toes.

Last Thursday, AccessHollywood.com viewed a sneak peek of the Season 7 premiere. Spoiler Alert! Here are six things worth keeping your eye out for when the premiere rolls out on Monday at 8/7c on NBC…

All Eyes On Gwen

From the opening group coaches’ number, it’s easy to see that everyone loves Gwen. Although verses of the song the foursome performed (you’ll find out what tune it is on Monday’s broadcast) were shared equally, Gwen had the boys’ attention – and ours — as she commanded the stage. And, in the big red chair, even when she wasn’t addressing a contestant, she proved captivating to watch —  a mixture of fun, sportiness and elegance rolled into one rock star package.

Pharrell Has Sway

Look for Pharrell to be the wildcard of the coaches, helping to shift the minds of the contestants. Just when you think someone is leaning one way, Pharrell comes in with an eloquent and thoughtful comment and a contestant is quickly rethinking their plans for picking a coach. He’s particularly influential when he’s not an option for a contestant.

Blake Is Funnier Than Ever

New blood in the coaches’ ranks has meant new material for the always witty Blake Shelton. Expect him to use lyrics and fashion as he zings newbies Gwen and Pharrell.

Acrobatic Adam

Maroon 5 frontman Adam remains the most competitive coach on the show, and in the premiere he’ll be taking his determination to get contestants onto his team to new heights – literally. Look out for the singer to do whatever he can – including taking his slinky frame and climbing on whatever is available, to try win a “Voice” contender over to his team.

Gwen’s Unique Style Of Fighting For Contestants

Occasionally, there were moments when Gwen pulled the “girl” card in an attempt to use a female-female bond to sway a contestant, but her style of persuasion looked to be (from the premiere episode) as diverse as her careers, and even as physical as Adam’s. At one point, she took to the stage, storming from end to end to show a shy vocalist how to command a crowd. At another, she joined Adam as he sought higher ground to try and woo a singer. Expect the unexpected from Gwen.

Strong Talent Pool

Teenage powerhouses, charming indie rockers, shy soul singers and country spitfires aren’t new to “The Voice,” but this season, the latest crop are going to blow you away again. There is so much talent, you’ll be surprised at the kind of quality the coaches turn away!
