Wife Of ‘Spartacus’ Star Andy Whitfield Shares Actor’s Final Words To His Children

Vashti Whitfield, the wife of the late “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” star Andy Whitfield has shared the actor’s touching words he said to his two children before he lost his battle with cancer, a little over a week ago.

“I am going to go to sleep now as my body won’t work anymore. I am like a butterfly with broken wings,” Vashti told Australia’s The Telegraph, recalling the actor’s last words to children, Jesse Red, 6, and Indigo Sky, 4, before he died from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

He also told his two children, “I will always be with you and will always be watching over you. I love you.”

Vashti also recalled the moment they learned the actor’s cancer had returned in September 2010 after they initially thought his chemotherapy was successful.

“Our hearts were broken,” she told The Telegraph. “Everyone’s language changed. They said it meant he had never really beaten it the first time.”

Adding, “But the children look so much like him. And they can look in the mirror every day and see their dad.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the Australian actor died on September 11, 2011 in Sydney. He was 39.
