Zac Efron usually plays the good guy in his movies, but in his latest, “Neighbors” with Seth Rogen, he plays one of the worst people to live next door to – something that was hard for him.
“It comes from a good place, all of the villain acts,” he told Access Hollywood of his character in the new raunchy comedy about a couple with a newborn baby, whose lives are thrown into chaos after a fraternity moves in next to them.
“It was kind of hard for me because in Seth’s movies, you always agree with Seth in my opinion… he’s a voice of reason for our generation, I think that everyone kind of identifies with [him], at least every guy,” the 26-year-old actor, whose Teddy Sanders character terrorizes (comically, of course) the new parents.

Despite it being difficult, Zac found plenty of joy in the devious role.
“[It] was fun. It was cool, I just had to find a place to really believe in what I was doing, to do it,” he said.
Co-star Dave Franco told Access that Zac easily pulls off the loveable jerk.

“You like his character throughout because [even though] he does have some a**hole tendencies in the movie…Zac’s genuinely very funny…you can be the biggest a**hole in the world, as long as you’re entertaining, it’s like I’m still on board with that guy,” Dave said of his co-star.
“Neighbors” opens on May 9.
