America’s Own Moo Deng? Meet The Baby Pygmy Hippo Born At A Virginia Zoo

Viral sensation Moo Deng the pygmy hippo may have some competition in the cuteness department after a Virginia Zoo welcomed a newborn hippo. Metro Richmond Zoo announced on Dec. 24 that the baby girl was born earlier in the month. “Hippo hooray! The zoo is excited to announce a heartwarming addition to our animal family just in time for the holidays: a baby pygmy hippo. The newborn arrived on December 9, 2024, after a 7-month gestation. Congratulations to pygmy hippo parents Iris and Corwin on the birth of another little girl.” The pygmy hippo parents have had 2 other female calves in the last four and half years.
