Cillian Murphy Reacts to ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ Ending: ‘Somebody Needs to Die’

Spoiler alert! Cillian Murphy is taking on Tommy Shelby one last time. The Academy Award winner chatted with Access Hollywood all about “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” alongside co-star Tim Roth, where he discussed the emotional ending to the movie. “Typically in film world we shot it like right in the beginning of the shoot. So, it was so topsy-turvey in my head – kind of emotions and everything – ‘cause we did that in the first week. Then, ‘Right now, shoot the rest of the movie,’” he explained in part, adding, “I’m kind of a probably a bit too practical for my own good – or unsentimental about things. You just do it as best you possibly can and then you wipe the hard drive, and you move on.” When asked if he was ready for this to be the final chapter, Murphy replied, “Without sounding pretentious, when you’re going for that Shakespearan sort of level of themes, somebody needs to die.” Murphy and Roth additionally spoke about what it was like to film their action-packed scenes together, with Roth noting how it felt to join the cast. Plus, Murphy discussed his involvement with Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” music video after appearing alongside the pop star on “The Graham Norton Show.” “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” premieres March 6 in select cinemas and March 20 on Netflix.
