Ivanka Trump Tears Up Over Mom Ivana’s 2022 Death In Emotional Rare Interview

Ivanka Trump is reflecting on a devastating loss. The First Daughter got emotional about the 2022 death of her mother, Ivana Trump, in a rare new interview. While speaking with host Steven Bartlett on the April 9 episode of the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, Ivanka opened up about the evolution of her grief and how she’s honoring her mom’s legacy not only for herself, but also her own children. “I took the time to think about her, not through the eyes of the child who idolized her but through the eyes of an adult who saw her clearly,” Ivanka explained. “Her strengths, her challenges and I think about my role as a parent to my own children is to sort of stand guard to make sure they’re exposed to all the elements of her that were amazing and share the story.” The 44-year-old teared up over seeing a throwback photo with Ivana and shared how she hopes to emulate the qualities about her mom she admires the most. Ivana died at age 73 after falling down a spiral staircase in her New York City home, and Ivanka noted how the tragedy was especially challenging given the pandemic restrictions at the time. “Losing a parent, it hits different, especially unexpectedly,” she said. “Especially post-COVID which robbed so many of us of so many years. … There was distance there, just geographically. But we really keep her memory alive.” Ivana was married to Ivanka’s father, President Donald Trump, from 1977 to 1990. In addition to middle child Ivanka, the former couple welcomed sons Donald Jr. and Eric. The family, including First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron Trump, plus Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner and their three kids, all attended Ivana’s funeral in Manhattan.
