Katy Perry Teases ‘Idol’ Absence Ahead Of Coronation: We’re Not Just ‘Partying With The King’

Katy Perry is ready for a royal getaway! The music superstar told Access Hollywood about missing next week’s “American Idol” as she and fellow judge Lionel Richie perform at King Charles’ coronation. Katy joked at first that the trip will be a “vacation” and later teased that she’ll be checking in on “Idol” and Luke Bryan. “It’s not like we’re just partying with the King,” she smiled. Katy also shares her hopes for fellow icons Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette filling in on the judging panel while she and Lionel are gone. “American Idol” airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8 PM ET on ABC.
