He was 24. “It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce that Kaizer Chiefs player, Luke Fleurs tragically lost his life last night during a hijacking incident in Johannesburg,” the statement wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.” Police told NBC News that the athlete was waiting to be attended to at a gas station when he was shot. The attackers then fled with his car, per police. Authorities are currently investigating a case of murder and car hijacking.
