Prince Harry Speaks Out On Reuniting With Estranged Father King Charles After 19 Months

Prince Harry is sharing brief insight into his long-awaited reunion with King Charles. The Duke of Sussex met with his father in person for the first time in 19 months on Sept. 10, visiting the monarch at his Clarence House home in London for a private tea. Sky News reports that Harry acknowledged the milestone when speaking with reporters at an Invictus Games event later that day, saying, “Yes, he’s great, thank you” when asked about the King. The pair are said to have spent just under an hour together before Harry left the residence. He previously saw his father in February 2024, just days after the King’s cancer diagnosis was made public. Harry later expressed desire to reconcile with his family amid a continued rift that stems from his and wife Meghan Markle’s 2020 move to California and his explosive bestselling memoir, “Spare.” The dad of two told the BBC in a surprise interview in May that the King’s health makes the situation especially painful and claimed the monarch had cut off communication between them. Though tensions between Harry and brother Prince William are said to remain high, speculation that the Duke and King Charles could be mending their rift sparked over the summer when their respective senior aides were seen meeting. Harry’s tea with the King comes during a busy trip to his homeland, where he attended the WellChild Awards, the Diana Award ceremony and paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth on the third anniversary of her death.
