President Donald Trump Tells King Charles His Mom Mary Had a ‘Crush’ On The Royal
President Donald Trump revealed in a speech on Tuesday, April 28, that his mother previously had a crush on King Charles. The President and First Lady Melania Trump were joined by the monarch and his wife Queen Camilla at the White House for a state arrival ceremony. While giving his remarks at the podium, Trump first joked that he and Melania will not make it as long as his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, and father, Fred Trump, did, who were married for 63 years. “That’s a record we won’t be able to match, darling. I’m sorry, it’s just not going to work out that way. We’ll do well, but we’re not going to do that well,” he said with a chuckle. Trump went on to share how his mom, who was born in and emigrated from Scotland, loved the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth. Afterwards, he noted that she would gush over young Charles, saying he was “so cute.” “My mother had a crush on Charles – can you believe it? I wonder what she’s thinking right now,” he added. King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in the United States on Monday, April 27, for a four-day state visit, landing at Joint Base Andrews. The 77-year-old monarch also addressed a joint meeting of Congress on Tuesday afternoon. In addition to spending time in D.C., Charles and Camilla will visit New York City and Virginia.
