Danny Glover Explains Why He Went Public With Alzheimer’s Diagnosis

Legendary actor Danny Glover is opening up about his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, revealing he’s been living with the disease for several years. The 79-year-old actor sat down with Lester Holt in an interview that aired on the “Today” show on July 1 to reveal his diagnosis and give a glimpse into his life with the disease. Alzheimer’s is a progressive, fatal, neurodegenerative disease. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, it’s a type of dementia that affects the brain and causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. During the wide-ranging interview, the Emmy Award winner explained he and his family are now ready to go public with the diagnosis because they hope it can help remove the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s.
