Dionne Warwick Reflects On Time She Checked Snoop Dogg & Tupac Over Misogynistic Lyrics In The ’90s
Dionne Warwick’s new CNN documentary “Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over” includes so many stories about the legendary single, including one where she checked three titans of rap over their misogynistic lyrics. In the early ’90s, she summoned Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight to her home at 7 AM to address the situation, and they arrived early. Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans recalled the story in an interview with Dionne; and when he suggested their prompt arrival was “the power of Miss Dionne,” she replied, “No, that is the power of respect. That’s what that is, and of wanting to gain knowledge. And I think they did.”
