Kelly Rowland Breaks Silence On Viral Cannes Red Carpet Clash: ‘I Stood My Ground’

Kelly Rowland is sharing her side of a now-viral red carpet moment at the Cannes Film Festival. The singer made headlines this week after a heated confrontation with a security worker after Kelly posed for photos at the “Marcello Mio” premiere. The exchange looked lighthearted at first but took a turn when the staffer placed a hand behind Kelly’s back, seemingly in effort to move her along as she was ushered up the stairs. Though it’s not confirmed what either woman said, many viewers interpreted Kelly’s words as “don’t talk to me like that.” Fans applauded the Destiny’s Child member on social media for defending herself and Kelly later reflected on the incident in an interview with the Associated Press. ““The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have a boundary and I stand by those boundaries. And that’s it,” Kelly said. “And there were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off. And, um, I stood my ground and she felt like she had to stand hers but I stood my ground. And that’s it.” A spokesperson for Cannes has yet to comment as of May 24.
