On Friday, July 17, the influencer announced that Whimsy was in remission, weeks after she first revealed her daughter’s cancer diagnosis. In a video posted to social media, Smith thanked her followers for their support and kind messages before acknowledging that she and husband Lucky Blue Smith debated telling the public about their daughter’s diagnosis for the last eight months. “We wanted to wait until she was done with treatment and us knowing what the outcome of her situation would be before sharing it and even finding the words to share it,” she said in part, adding, “Now that she’s finally in remission, it felt like I could find the words to share. The whole point of me sharing our experience was to shed light on what so many families go through and battle privately.” The content creator went on to share that experiencing the chemo treatments for her daughter made her aware of how expensive medical care is, noting that she was researching charities and foundations to support.
