2024 Golden Globe Nominations: Taylor Swift, ‘The Color Purple,’ & More Snubs & Surprises

The 2024 Golden Globe nominations are here, but not without a few snubs and surprises! On Monday, Cedric The Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama announced the nominees for all of the categories, leaving some fans shocked and surprised to see where their favorites stacked up. The biggest snub seemed to come in the “Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy” category when “Air” beat out “The Color Purple.” Tom Hiddleston, Adam Driver, and Jamie Foxx were also left out ahead of this year’s award show, and “Barbie’s” America Ferrera wasn’t nominated for her work in the blockbuster despite her much-lauded monologue in the film. While “Abbott Elementary” had two nods, noticeably missing from the lineup was actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and “Ted Lasso” pulled in three nominations, but without praise for Phil Dunster and Brett Goldstein. Among the shocking omissions also came a number of surprises. Taylor Swift’s “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert film was nominated for cinematic and box office achievement and “All the Light We Cannot See” received props in the “Best Television Limited Series” category. It was a good morning for Bradley Cooper too, who received nods for “Best Director” and “Best Performance By a Male Actor in a Motion Picture” for “Maestro,” which is also up for “Best Motion Picture.” “Barbie” led the pack with a total of nine nominations, as “Oppenheimer” brought in eight. Both are nominated for their respective “Best Picture” categories, “Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy” and “Best Motion Picture – Drama.”
